Recess Play in the Snow!

Even though the public & private schools are out of session today & tomorrow, we are still doing school at home. I know - I'm a deadbeat mean mom. I keep telling the girls, "the sooner we finish school, the sooner we can start summer break!" And I'm all about summer break so we continue to truck on. But the kids did enjoy some outside playtime in the snow - our first "real" snow of the season! And Asher had his first sled ride! I would say he "liked" it, didn't "love" it - but was brave and tried it a few times. Next year I'm sure he'll be a pro! ;-)

"Mommas on a Mission" Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

I'm super excited to be going back to Uganda this summer! This time I'm taking 5 friends with me who have never been. We call ourselves, "Mommas on a Mission" & we'll be working with Sole Hope, Arise & Shine Babies Home, and we'll visit Calo Me Lare, a village in Lira, UG built by Project Hope Worldwide. And of course, we'll end our stay with an African safari.

Our trip costs about $3,000 so we're all fundraising to help offset our costs. We just held a Pancake Fundraiser on Valentine's Day morning & it was a huge success! Everyone was so generous and we couldn't have done it without all the support from our families and friend volunteers. We are grateful beyond expression. Here's a few pics from our morning...

We are sooo looking forward to our trip and counting down the days!

Happy Day of Love

We have enjoyed celebrating Valentine's Day this year in several different ways...

Our girls are part of a group called Project 1:27 - Hope 4 Uganda. They had a great time recently making Valentine's Day cards and enjoying sweets from a chocolate fountain with the residents of a nursing home in our town. There were lots of great conversations - even prayers and a few tears. Interesting that I've taken the girls to visit residents of nursing homes since they were little but this time was different - I supposed because they are older and able to have more meaningful conversations with the seniors. We look forward to going back on a regular basis and developing deeper relationships with the new friends we made...

Asher had a fun time celebrating Valentine's Day at preschool by exchanging valentines and having a pizza party for lunch...

And all 3 kids went to our homeschool co-op party at a local skating rink...
